Completion of Late Night Stranger

Last weekend, filming was completed of Urban Nights segment Late Night Stranger, and not a moment too soon. The filming was finished early because the Lighthouse Cafe (the location that LNS was based) was going out of business and would be closed and empty by the next week.

We had to complete filming a week early, and after two long days and over 13 hours of filming, it’s done. Now it has to be edited, but the hardest part, filming, is no longer a problem.

To make matters worse, filming would not be possible this weekend because of the massive ice storm that has taken the electricity out for several days now. Estimates are that many places in the area won’t get power for days to come.

With one segment complete, work will commence on the others very soon.

Second film date set

After a great holiday break, work on Urban Nights has officially recommenced. The next scheduled date for filming is Friday, January 9. It will be another late night filming on location at the Lighthouse Cafe. It is planned for the completion of 5-6 scenes from the segment The Late Night Stranger.

First official day of filming!

I am pleased to announce that from 10PM to 12AM on Friday, December 19th, the first official filming session for Urban Nights took place. According to the original schedule, this past Friday was supposed to be the second filming session, but due to unforeseen conditions discussed in the earlier post, the filming was canceled.

Work was completed on about 4 scenes from the segment Late Night Stranger. Filming will recommence after the holidays, and I will post an update then.

First Official Day of filming set

Big news - the first official day of filming for Urban Nights is scheduled for this Friday December 12th. Scenes to be shot are going to be mostly dialogue and low action shots from the third part of the anthology, Late Night Stranger.

It’s going to be a long night, since Late Night Stranger is set in the early morning hours. We expect to start around 11PM and wrap up around 2AM.

Cast Meet and Greet; Camera secured

Today marked the first day of interaction between the cast and crew of Urban Nights. Seven cast and crew members met at the Lighthouse Cafe to meet one another and discuss the project. The Late Night Stranger segment of Urban Nights will take place in the Lighthouse Cafe.

Everyone had a great time and this meeting marked the first progress on the project in over a month. The other big news for the day was that Patrick and I have successfully arranged for a professional quality Canon GL2 camcorder to be lent to us for the production.

Now it is up to Patrick and I to arrange film dates and a shooting schedule. More information to come soon!

Thanksgiving Update

Filming may start soon for Urban Nights. Patrick and I plan to borrow a professional quality Canon model GL2 camera from our high school. The camera has been used by both Patrick and I, so we are very familiar with operating it.

Once permission is granted for us to borrow the camera, filming dates and locations will be set. More info soon.

Awaiting new equipment

One of the main reasons for the production delay in Urban Nights is the problem of not having a sufficient camera for filming. We are in the process of obtaining a professional quality camera, but it has taken quite some time due to a low budget and some contacts not following through with commitments.

We hope to get the camera very soon and start production ASAP.
